September is National Preparedness Month. Sponsored by FEMA, National Preparedness Month aims to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to all types of emergencies, including natural disasters and potential terrorist attacks. In September we also celebrate National V-J Day, (2nd); National Pizza Day, (5th); Labor Day, (7th); Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance (11th); Grandparents Day (13th); Star-Spangled Banner Day (written by Francis Scott Key, 1814, 14th); National Cheeseburger Day (18th);  Autumn Begins (23rd); and National Pancake Day (26th).
