In the past few months, I have found it very interesting when researching this topic to come across all the monthly designations that each month has. While a lot of the designations are food related, and I enjoy celebrating food; I wanted this new year to be more noteworthy. I will comment on just a few of these “noteworthy” celebrations. If you would like a complete list, please go to: www.nationaldaycalendar.com/january.
Of course, the first of January is New Years Day. This is a day to look forward to the New Year and all that it holds. A lot of people make resolutions to practice better health choices, eating habits, sleeping habits and increase exercise. I always make a pledge to read a certain number of books for the year. Plus I try different genres that are out of my comfort zone. See what kind of resolutions you will be making this year.
The rest of January is noted for: on the 2nd – National Science Fiction Day; 3rd is National Fruitcake Toss Day; 4th is National Trivia Day; the 18th is Martin Luther King Jr Day (third Monday) as well as National Winnie the Pooh Day; the 21st National Hugging Day; the 22nd is Celebration of Life Day; 25th is National Opposite Day; 28th is Have Fun at Work Day; and the 31st is National Backward Day! See if you can incorporate these celebrations into your lifestyle. Your children will appreciate this too!
