News from the Friends of the Havelock-Craven County Public – June 2018

The Friends of the Havelock-Craven County Public Library are alive!  We are looking for a slate of officers for our next term.  It appears we have a Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President and have an opening for a President .  Is there someone out there who might be interested in working with this great group of library loving people?  If so, please send me an email or stop in the library and talk to Margie Garrison or Kat Clowers.  You will not regret your decision.
The summer reading programs for children and teens are taking registrations NOW.  The adult reading/enrichment program has already started.  The next upcoming meetings feature:
June 25    All About Rocks
July 9      Name that Tune/Music Trivia
July 16    Harmonize with Nature-Create a driftwood wind chime
July 23    Music Appreciation
July 30    Rock Your Garden with a Stepping Stone
All programs are @1:30 at the library.
Eddie Ellis, local author and historian, will speak at the library on August 19th at 2 pm.  This is a ticketed event sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Ticket s are $10 ea., $5 for current members of the Friends. Tickets will be available at the library the first week in July.
Thank you to those who supported our group and purchased tickets for the fantastic picnic basket.  July Bird was the winner! Congrats to her!  We made $175.00 on the sale of the tickets. We extend our thanks to Mary Ellen for her work on this project.
Stop in the library and see the new furniture and arrangements. If you can’t find something, ask at the desk.
Remember our library is part of the  Craven-Pamlico-Carteret Regional Library System.  This system is responsible for our interlibrary loans, cataloging of new items, payroll for employees, technology and tech support, and collaboration.
