There is no limit on our older books for checkout, however, new books are limited to three. Three week checkout with two renewals are allowed unless book is on request.
Audio cassettes and CD’s are available for checkout with a limit of 5 titles. Fiction video cassettes and DVD’s are available for rental with a $1.00 fee per title due at the time of check out. They are checked out for one week and the limit is 5 titles. Non-fiction video’s and DVD’s are available for a three week check out with no rental fee. (Must be 18 or older to rent video’s / DVD’s.)

With your library card, books, audio cassettes, CD’s, DVD’s and videos that are currently checked out may be placed on reserve. This can be done at the library or from your home computer. An email address must be on file in order to access and reserve items from a home computer. Directions are available at the library in how to access this valuable resource. Materials located at any of the libraries in the Craven-Pamlico-Carteret Region, other than browsers, may be borrowed by placing a reserve on the item. When the material comes in, the patron will be notified by phone or email.
Books not available in the Craven-Pamlico-Carteret Region may be requested from other libraries by filling out a form at the front desk. Patron’s can retain a limit of five interlibrary loans in their possession at one time. One renewal is allowed per interlibrary loan. Return postage is charged to send the materials back to the lending library and that fee is due at the time of checkout. Books must be at least one year old before they can be obtained through this service. Overdue charges are $1.00 per day.
The library offers free Internet Access to patrons 18 years of age and older. Patrons age thirteen to seventeen must have a parent or guardian sign an Internet Use Agreement and must present library card each time. Children age 12 and under must have parental permission and adult supervision each time they are accessing the Internet. Word processing, research programs, and educational activities for children are available.
Wireless Access Available
Unsecured wireless is available to all patrons with a wireless device.
Smart Start Educational Toys:
A Smart Start card application is available at the front desk to all adults. Patrons must have a a library card in order to apply for a Smart Start card. A limit of five educational toys can be checked out at a time. Smart Start toys are unavailable for reserves. A fee of $0.25 per day will be charged for late materials. There are no renewals or reservations for Smart Start toys.
Scanning is available at no cost to our patrons.
